This map of Jerusalem was created during the years I lived in the city. It weaves together plants, symbols, and animals that, for me, embody the spirit of the Holy City.
At the center of the painted canvas stands a woman alongside a doe, enclosed within a stone gate whose destination remains unknown. To the right appears the Foundation Stone — the stone which, according to Jewish tradition, marks the point from which the world was founded.
Below, the clustered houses of Nachlaot unfold, while above them ladders and fragrant bushes rise, suggesting both ascent and scent, grounding the city in memory, devotion, and longing.
